Most projects take 2-10 days on site. Larger walls with prep work or access restrictions can extend the timeline depending on the specific circumstances.
What to expect on pricing
Every project is quoted individually based on size, surface, complexity, and prep work. As a starting reference:
- Interior accent walls & residential features typically begin around $3,500-$9,500
- Exterior commercial murals usually fall in the $12,000-$45,000 range and scale with size, surface, and detail
- Extra largescale building murals & signature commissions start around $30,000 and scale upward depending on size, detail, and complexity. All are project-quoted.
- Site visits within Austin are free; travel beyond Austin is quoted separately
How detailed the work is matters more than how big the wall is. A flat geometric design and a painted portrait at the same square footage can sit at opposite ends of these ranges. Typical per-square-foot rates run $25-$80 - simpler work near the floor, trompe l'oeil and detailed portraiture near the top.

Phoenix Mural

- How long does a typical mural take?
- Painting timelines vary a lot. Small interior accent walls can wrap in 2–10 days. Larger or higher walls with prep work, scaffolding, weather scheduling, or business-hour restrictions can run a month or more. Concept sketches and approval happen before painting starts, which typically adds another 1–2 weeks to the overall timeline.
- Do you travel outside Austin?
- Yes. I regularly take commissions across Central Texas (Round Rock, Cedar Park, Georgetown, Pflugerville, San Marcos, Dripping Springs, Lakeway, Bee Cave, Buda, Kyle, and San Antonio). Travel beyond Austin is quoted separately based on distance.
- What surfaces can you paint on?
- Interior drywall, exterior brick or masonry, wood, concrete, metal, and most prepared surfaces. The surface affects prep time and material choice, and we'll go over the specifics during the consultation.
- Do you handle HOA approval or city permits?
- I can help advise on what's typically required and provide concept sketches and material details for your submission. The actual approval process is the property owner's responsibility, but I'll work with you to make it easy.
- What about weather and drying time for exteriors?
- Exterior murals are weather-dependent, so we schedule around the forecast and avoid painting in rain or extreme heat. Once it's done, the paint cures fully within 24–48 hours. I use UV-resistant paints and recommend a protective sealant for long-term durability.
- What's the difference between spray paint, acrylic, and mixed media in pricing?
- Spray paint is fastest for large exterior work, acrylic gives finer detail and stronger interior durability, and mixed media combines both for specific effects. Pricing comes down to materials and labor. Exterior spray-paint work tends to be more cost-efficient per square foot than detailed acrylic, but the right medium really depends on the design.
- Can I use the mural in my marketing materials?
- Yes. Clients have full rights to photograph, share, and use the completed mural in their own marketing. I keep the artistic copyright so I can include it in my portfolio, but commercial use of the physical mural itself is fully yours.
- What's required from me to start a project?
- After your initial inquiry, we'll set up a 15–30 minute call or site visit to talk through scope, theme, and budget. From there I put together concept sketches and a detailed quote. Once you approve it, a 50% deposit holds your spot on the calendar and the balance is due on completion.
- Will the mural fade outdoors over time?
- Some fading is natural over the years, especially in direct Austin sun, though a UV-protective sealant slows it down a lot. Most exterior pieces look great for the better part of a decade, and minor touch-ups are easy to do after that if you want.
- Can I rotate or update the mural later?
- Of course. If you ever want to refresh, replace, or change the mural down the line, I offer touch-up and re-paint work for past clients at a discounted rate.
