- How long does a typical mural take?
- Painting timelines vary a lot. Small interior accent walls can wrap in 2–10 days. Larger or higher walls with prep work, scaffolding, weather scheduling, or business-hour restrictions can run a month or more. Concept sketches and approval happen before painting starts, which typically adds another 1–2 weeks to the overall timeline.
- Do you travel outside Austin?
- Yes — I regularly take commissions across Central Texas (Round Rock, Cedar Park, Georgetown, Pflugerville, San Marcos, Dripping Springs, Lakeway, Bee Cave, Buda, Kyle, and San Antonio). Travel beyond Austin is quoted separately based on distance.
- What surfaces can you paint on?
- Interior drywall, exterior brick or masonry, wood, concrete, metal, and most prepared surfaces. The surface affects prep time and material choice — I'll discuss specifics during the consultation.
- Do you handle HOA approval or city permits?
- I can help advise on what's typically required and provide concept sketches and material details for your submission. The actual approval process is the property owner's responsibility, but I'll work with you to make it easy.
- What about weather and drying time for exteriors?
- Exterior murals are weather-dependent — we schedule around forecasts and avoid painting in rain or extreme temperatures. Once complete, the paint cures fully within 24–48 hours. I use UV-resistant paints and recommend a protective sealant for long-term durability.
- What's the difference between spray paint, acrylic, and mixed media in pricing?
- Spray paint is fastest for large exterior work; acrylic offers finer detail and stronger interior durability; mixed media combines both for specific effects. Pricing varies based on materials and labor — exterior spray-paint work tends to be more cost-efficient per square foot than detailed acrylic, but the right medium depends on the design.
- Can I use the mural in my marketing materials?
- Yes — clients have full rights to photograph, share, and use the completed mural in their own marketing. I retain the artistic copyright (so I can include it in my portfolio), but commercial use of the physical mural itself is fully yours.
- What's required from me to start a project?
- After your initial inquiry, we'll schedule a 15–30 minute call or site visit to align on scope, theme, and budget. I'll then provide concept sketches and a detailed quote. Once approved, a 50% deposit secures your spot on the calendar; the remainder is due on completion.
- Will the mural fade outdoors over time?
- Some fading is natural over years, especially in direct Austin sun. UV-protective sealant slows it significantly. Most exterior pieces look great for the better part of a decade; minor touch-ups can be done after that if you want.
- Can I rotate or update the mural later?
- Absolutely — if you ever want to refresh, replace, or modify the mural, I offer touch-up and re-paint services for past clients at a discounted rate.
